Higher fines for speeding and anti-social driving

Fines for speeding and for anti-social driving behaviour are to be increased sharply from next year, justice minister Ivo Opstelten said on Monday.

For example, the fine for driving 40kph in a 30kph zone is to go up from €54 to €93.
In addition, drivers caught ‘deliberately’ breaking the law – such as driving without a licence or failing to stop at a pedestrian crossing – will face an extra fine of €140, the minister said.
All fines will rise in line with inflation next year, the minister said.
