Grenade hits Amsterdam court complex, police hunt two men

Amsterdam police are hunting for two men who are thought to have fired a grenade at Amsterdam's main court complex in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A number of windows were broken in the attack, and there is some damage to the wall of one of the towers.

No one has yet come forward with a motive for the attack.

According to the Telegraaf, most of the activity in E Tower is concerned with 'deportations' and illegal immigrants. There are no major criminal cases ongoing at the moment which would appear to rule out organised crime, the paper said.

Eyewitnesses

One eyewitness told local television station AT5 he saw two people making off on a motorbike shortly after the blast. Another told the Telegraaf he had seen 'squatter types' in the vicinity.

Police and forensic experts have sealed off the area, although court cases are proceeding as normal.

Justice minister Ivo Opstelten told the Telegraaf the incident is 'an attack on the rule of law' and that everything possible would be done to find the perpetrators.

I wonder what squatter types look like?I got squatters on our street and to be honest they look like everyone else.I also note immigration gets a mention as well so already in the office rumors abound about Squatter terrorist who are probably Muslim lovers did it.Yeah the media is great eh!If in doubt then blame whatever has been recently been demonised in society.

More regulation of firearms should prevent this from ever happening again. Oh, wait! That's right! Only cops & criminals have a right to firearms. Wow! Over-regulation really works!

drawer22: the firearms ban had NOTHING to do with this. are you suggesting that we should also allow citizens to purchase and have personal fun with mortar grenades? because this is what they used. what are you talking about anyway? try and focus a little further than your apparently myopic 'legalize all firearms agenda' please.

Let me guess: white guys with really huge dreadlocks, baggy pants, all clothing in grey, green, or black, and possibly escorted by a German shepherd. For being a group that is supposedly radically independent, these "squatter-types" look radically similar to one another.

Best way to stop attacks like these is to find out 'why' and not 'who', Clue,(not all the laws are fair.)

Scapegoating a particular sect is
the same as what happened to the four Irish + family members for bombing a pub in Guildford back in the 70's.
Nor was it the Jews!)
