The Netherlands’ oldest resident dies at 109

The Netherlands’ oldest resident has died in a care home in Leeuwarden at the age of 109.


Geertruida Draaisma was born in the Frisian pottery town of Makkum in February 1902 and moved to the care home 15 years ago.
At a news conference for her 109th birthday, she said her secret was lots of walking, relaxation, a sober life and to enjoy everything, in moderation.
