Roadside emergency phones still have an important role

Despite the rise of the mobile phone, roadside emergency telephones are still used in some 50,000 accident and breakdown reports a year, motoring organisation ANWB said on Thursday.


The yellow poles account for 3% of the 1.8 million call-outs made to ANWB rescue workers each year and are particularly useful in locating the actual location of breakdowns, the organisation said.
