Mosquito plague on the way
Tuesday 02 August 2011
The wet July followed by rising temperatures have created the perfect conditions for mosquitos, according to scientists from Wageningen University in the Telegraaf.
Researchers expect an 'explosion of adult mosquitos' over the next few days which could become a 'plague' in some places, the paper says.
They recommend people clear their gardens and balconies of stagnant water sources and cover rainwater barrels. Even blocked gutters can provide the perfect location for mosquitos to breed.

In Italy they use light aircraft to release a spray over areas where mosquitos are known to breed such as ponds, lakes and marshlands to keep the numbers down, this is harmless to humans and keeps the tourists flowing in the areas. I think that Holland needs to look at such drastic actions to stop sheep from getting blue tongue and some humans from much discomfort as many are alergic to the saliva that contains a protien that can cuse the imune system to over react and cuse swelling and other complications. Mosquitos are a general health hazzard and need controlling.
