Dutchman arrested in US for breaking Iran trade embargo

A 50-year-old Dutch national has appeared in court in New York for breaking the weapons embargo against Iran, news agencies report on Tuesday.


The man, Ulrich Davis, was arrested on Saturday as he attempted to fly out of New York. He is alleged to have sold US aircraft parts and other equipment to the Iranian army.
In order to hide his illegal activities, carried out through the cargo company he worked for, Holland was used as the destination on official papers.
If found guilty, he faces 20 years in jail and a fine of $1m.
