Consumers body deals with 44,000 requests

Consumers made a total 44,000 requests for information and formal complaints to the national consumer authority, cartel body NMa and telecoms watchdog Opta over the first six months of this year.

The joint website, consuwijzer.nl, received almost one million visits in the first six months of the year, comparable to same period last year. However, the actual number of requests fell, indicating efforts to improve information on the site are paying off, the organisations said.
Most complaints centred on contracts, the non-delivery of goods and services and energy bills.
The report also said that Opta had fined telemarketing companies over €1m for breaking the rules.
