Shell benefits from higher oil price

Anglo Dutch oil giant Shell almost doubled its net profit in the second quarter of this year, as sharply higher oil prices compensated for 2% lower production.


The price of a barrel of Brent crude oil rose from $78 to $117 over the period, propelling Shell’s profit to $8.7bn. Sales rose almost 34% to $121bn.
