Publisher Reed Elsevier books 19% increase in net profit

Anglo Dutch publishing and exhibitions group Reed Elsevier booked net profit of ₤377m in the first six months of this year, up 19% on a year ago, the company said on Thursday.

Turnover fell 3% to ₤2.9bn, although the underlying growth is 1% when currency effects and divestments are taken into account, the company said.
