Mars ordered to stop paying petrol station owners a bonus

Confectionary giant Mars has been ordered to stop paying bonuses to petrol stations which display its sweets and chocolates in prominent places.

Mars was taken to court by rival chocolate group Nestlé, producer of Kitkat, Lion and Nuts, which said the bonus system conflicted with competition law.
The court in Den Bosch said there are indications that Nestlé is correct and ordered Mars, home of Snickers, Twix and Bounty, to stop the practice.
It is a preliminary decision and requires formal investigation, the court is quoted as saying by news agency ANP.
