KLM to be swallowed up by Air France: Telegraaf

Dutch flag carrier KLM appears to be poised to lose its autonomy within the Air France-KLM group because of changes in the corporate structure, the Telegraaf reports on Monday, without quoting sources.

The paper says within the new structure, KLM will become the responsibility of a general director, who will report directly to a ‘top management layer, primarily made up of French nationals’.
The new structure has been made necessary by the integration of Italian airline Alitalia in 2013. KLM was taken over by Air France in 2004.
The paper says Schiphol airport authority is watching developments closely because of fears that the change could impact on the airport. KLM accounts for over half of aircraft movements at Schiphol.
