Thunderstorms cause flash flooding

Thunderstorms led to localised flash floods in some parts of the country on Sunday, with Arnhem and the southeast of Drenthe particularly hard hit.

The heavy showers overloaded the storm drains in some places, leading to flooded cellars and low-lying roads.
In Arnhem, a car carrying three elderly people became trapped in a tunnel by flood waters. One had to be taken to hospital.
