Schools’ free Wednesday afternoon on its way out

The end of the free Wednesday afternoon for primary schools could be in sight, the education working group Andere Schooltijden says in a report.

Of the 7,000 primary schools in the Netherlands, 1,000 have already scrapped the free afternoon in favour of a continuous schedule across the five weekdays. Many other schools are seriously considering following suit.
The continuous schedule means children have a short lunch break at school and go home at 14.30 hours.
