Researchers protest at funding restrictions

Young researchers from the KNAW (royal academy of science) have written to the cabinet urging ministers to rethink their new strategy for funding academic research, saying it is short-sighted.


Ministers plan to focus annual spending of €350m on research with commercial applications and focusing on nine specific areas of expertise: energy, market gardening, IT, logistics, water management, food agriculture, chemistry, life sciences and the creative industry.
