Groningen University has had a surge of applications from England, as British students look to escape a sharp rise in fees, the Telegraaf reports.

This year, over 100 British students have signed up so far, compared with just 38 last year. English university fees are set to rise to upwards of €10,000 a year from the next academic year. Dutch university fees are below €2,000.
Maastricht University has also been advertising heavily in an effort to attract more foreign students.
