EHEC on Dutch beetroot sprouts not same strain as in Germany

Traces of the EHEC bacteria have been found on beetroot sprouts from a Dutch grower, EU officials said on Wednesday evening.

The sprouts are not carrying the same variant of the bacteria as has killed some 25 people in Germany, but all produce from that grower is being removed from the supermarket shelves as a precautionary measure, health minister Edith Schippers told Radio 1 news.
According to the Telegraaf, earlier this week, food safety inspectors found traces of EHEC on sprouts from the same company.
Beetroot sprouts are sprouted beetroot seeds which can be eaten in salads or used as decoration.
