Amsterdam wants Queen’s Day train surcharge to pay for clean up

Amsterdam city council wants to impose a ticket surcharge on people travelling to the capital for the Queen’s Day celebrations on April 30th from next year, the Telegraaf reports.

The money would be used to help pay for the massive clean-up after the open air extravaganza is over.
The measure is one of several presented by the city council on Thursday to shore up the city’s finances.
The brunt of the cuts will be felt by more vulnerable households because they depend on several different social services where spending is being cut, Lodewijk Asscher, who is in charge of the city’s finances, is quoted as saying by the Parool.
