Urk mayor calls protesting youth to talk

The mayor of the fishing village of Urk has urged local youths who tried to fire bomb his house at the weekend to come and talk about their objections to his drink and drugs crackdown.

‘If these lads are so brave that they can throw a firebomb at an apartment complex, then they can come and tell me to my face what their problems with me is,’ Jaap Kroon says in the Telegraaf.
Some 15 youths were involved in the violence on Friday night.
Last week, 150 youths went to the mayor’s house to protest at his plans to get tough on drinking and drugs in the strict Protestant village. The crowd had to be broken up by police.
