The Netherlands’ oldest man turns 109

The Netherlands’ oldest man, Cor Geurtz, celebrated his 109th birthday on Wednesday, by opting to spend time with his five children, rather than any civic dignatories, the Telegraaf reports.


Geurtz, who still lives independently in Rotterdam, has been a widower since 1974. He retired when he was 65 after working for telephone company PTT.
The family celebrated his birthday with a meal at a restaurant.
The Netherlands’ oldest living resident is Geertruida Draaisma ,who turned 109 in February.
