State Bank of India considers opening in Amsterdam

The State Bank of India is planning to open an office in Amsterdam, which would be the first Indian bank in the Netherlands, city council officials said at the weekend.

Mayor Eberhard van der Laan and economic affairs executive Carolien Gehrels are currently on a visit to India.
Nevertheless, it will be at least a year before all the necessary paperwork and preparations have been completed. There are now 70 Indian companies, many in the IT sector, based in the Amsterdam region.
