Sports events should have added benefits, says minister
The government will only put money into attracting top sports events to the Netherlands if there is a clear economic or social benefit, sports minister Edith Schippers said at the weekend.
Either industry and business should benefit directly or the event should act as a motor for getting citizens to take part in sport, the minister said during a visit to Hengelo.
