Opta hands out €660,000 in fines for spam
Telecom regulator Opta has fined two companies and two private individuals a total €660,000 for sending 400 million items of junk email, or spam.
The email addresses were gathered through online questionnaires and competitions without the visitors being aware they had opened their mail boxes to spam.
