No deal on Romanian fruit pickers

Farming organisation LTO has walked out of talks with social affairs minister Henk Kamp on solving the impasse on work permits for Romanian and Bulgarian seasonal workers.

The organisation says Kamp is unwilling to recognise the problems fruit growers are facing to find skilled seasonal workers at this late stage. The minister says the market gardeners should use local unemployed to pick their fruit.
Six market gardeners are now preparing to take the minister to court.
