Marlies Dekkers wins bra wars

Lingerie queen Marlies Dekkers won her case against budget competitor Sapph for design theft when a Utrecht court decided Sapph bras with a band across the top of the cup looked too much like Dekkers’ own design.

The court compared ten bras and three pairs of pants from Sapph with those of Dekkers and judged that four bras and one pair of knickers were in breach of copyright.
The court ordered Sapph to stop making these models immediately and to pay damages. How high the damages will be is not yet known.
