Sanoma, Talpa take over broadcaster SBS Nederland

Finnish publishing group Sanoma and television entertainment group Talpa are taking over SBS Nederland, the commercial broadcaster owned by Germany’s ProSiebenSat 1.


Sanoma will have a 67% stake in SBS Nederland, and Talpa the remaining shares.
Sanoma publishes a wide range of magazines in the Netherlands, including the Donald Duck comic. Talpa is owned by John de Mol, inventor of the Big Brother reality television format.

Belgium

SBS owns commercial channels SBS6, Net5 and Veronica as well as listings magazines and television production companies.
Sanoma and other partners are also taking over SBS Belgium.
The total value of the deal is put at €1.2bn, news agencies said.
