Record Easter weather: it has never been so warm

With Sunday’s temperature reaching over 25 Celsius on Sunday, this has become the warmest Easter weekend on record, the KNMI weather bureau said on Monday.

The previous record – 24.5 Celsius – dates from 1949, when Easter fell in mid April.
However, the high temperatures were mostly inland, with the southern coast and Wadden Sea island of Vlieland hovering around 16 Celsius.
The warm weather is due to a high pressure area north east of the Netherlands, the KNMI said.
The temperature is set to dip later this week and there could be occasional showers. The forecast for the Queen’s Day celebrations on April 30 is for warm weather at around 20 Celsius with some cloud.
