Prime minister to explain private meeting over Zeeland

Prime minister Mark Rutte will on Tuesday explain to MPs what he and PVV leader Geert Wilders discussed with a new Zeeland provincial councillor in a private meeting two weeks ago, the Telegraaf reports.

After the meeting, Johan Robesin decided to use his vote in the senate elections on May 23 to vote for the ruling alliance, not new party 50PLUS as had been previously agreed.
The members of the 12 provincial governments vote for the 75-seat senate and the government is likely to be one seat short of a minority.
Robesin told reporters the prime minister had pledged no more areas of Zeeland would be flooded in order to create new nature. Rutte denies making any promises.
