Off-peak discount rail card to be suspended for evening rush hour

Dutch Rail (NS) wants to stop giving 40% cheaper tickets to passengers with a discount card who travel between 17.00 and 19.00 hours, magazine HP/De Tijd reports on Friday.

The discount card costs €55 and was introduced in an effort to get people to avoid the morning rush hour. But the NS now wants evening rush hour passengers to pay full fares as well, the magazine says.
NS declined to comment on the report, saying the news was not due to be announced until Saturday, news agency ANP said.
