Minister says no to €1,600 a day interim police chief plan
Justice minister Ivo Opstelten has pledged to take action over plans to appoint an interim police chief in Almere who will earn €1,600 a day.
The interim, from consultancy Twynstra Gudde, will work 2.5 days a week for the force until a permanent chief is found. Almere has been without a senior officer for some time.
Following MPs protests, Opstelten said on Saturday he would make sure a number of suitable candidates for the job had been found within the next few days.
The cabinet is planning to reduce the number of police forces in the Netherlands from 25 to nine.
