Banks urged to boycott online gambling sites

Dutch banks will shortly be given a blacklist of illegal gambling sites which they should refuse to do business with, junior justice minister Fred Teeven said on Thursday.

Online gambling is currently illegal in the Netherlands and the government hopes banks will refuse to honour credit card transactions made with the websites.
According to news agency ANP, the list will be sent to banks by the Dutch banking association, but it is up to individual banks to decide whether or not to comply.
Teeven is also planning to licence a number of online gambling websites.
