Amsterdam supermarkets told to sell one drink only on Queen´s Day

Customers will only be allowed to buy one alcohol drink at a time in shops and supermarkets in Amsterdam during the Queen’s Day celebrations on April 30.

Alcohol is also banned on railway stations and on trains, and there will be extra checks on passengers to make sure they comply, news website nu.nl reports.
Officials are concerned that over one million people may flock to the capital for the celebrations because of the good weather forecast.
The council has already taken steps to reduce the potential for trouble. Fewer people are to be allowed in the popular Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein areas and all outdoor events are to be over by 20.00 or 21.00 hours, the website says.
