Watersnood Museum nominated for European prize

The Watersnood Museum in Zeeland, which commemorates the floods in 1953, has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year award.

The European Museum Forum presents the award each May to a new museum or one that has undergone radical alteration.
The Watersnood Museum, originally housed in just one of the concrete mega-structures in the old sea dike near Ouwerkerk, has been extended into three more of the structures.
Its collection covers not just the 1953 flood and its aftermath but also how the Netherlands has managed its water since then.
