Unions reject 0.2% pay offer in social services sector

Talks on a new pay and conditions deal for the 65,000 people working in the welfare and social services sector have broken down and unions have issued an ultimatum to employers to come up with a reasonable offer.

The employers have offered a 0.2% pay rise, which the unions have dismissed as being too low. They have given the social service association until April 12 to come up with an improved deal.
