Ships collide off Kinderdijk

Two Dutch ships collided on Monday evening off Kinderdijk near Rotterdam, at the point where the Lek, the Noord and the Nieuwe Maas waterways meet. The reason for the collision is not yet known, reports the Telegraaf.

Both ships, a loaded oil tanker and an empty cargo ship, were damaged. Police at the scene said no oil was leaking into the river.
Two crew members on the cargo ship were hurt. One was treated on board; the other was taken to hospital in Rotterdam for stitches in a head wound.
