Queen’s visit to Oman, still no decision

It is still unclear if the queen’s planned visit to Oman or Qatar will go ahead.

Prime minister Mark Rutte told MPs on Tuesday he needed time to decide whether the trip, due to start on March 6, should be cancelled. Several people have been killed in anti-government protests in Oman.
The issue is complicated because the queen could also be seen as giving support to the Oman regime led by sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said, some MPs said.
In 1989 the queen cancelled a visit to China because of anti-government protests there.
