Property investors want an end to out of court settlements

Property investors are fed up with all the out of court settlements reached between public prosecutors and suspects in cases of property fraud, according to investor organisation IVBN.

‘We want all the big cases to go to court,’ chairman Hans Copier says in Monday’s Financieele Dagblad.
The IVBN has written to the justice ministry outlining its concerns about the out of court settlements which make it difficult to assess if a person is guilty or not.
These include a €40m deal between property magnate Harry Hilders and the Philips pension fund. Hillens is again active in the market, the paper says.
The IVBM also wants to know if companies involved with out of court settlements are excluded from bidding for government contracts.
