Minister hands railway firm record fine for poor service

Transport minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen has fined state-owned railway NS €2m for poor performance.

The fine, a record, stems from the passenger service firm’s failure to meet agreed performance targets such as on punctuality.
ProRail, which is responsible for running the track and providing passenger information will also be fined for poor service, but a decision has not yet been taken on how much.
