Let Dutch jets bomb in Libya too, says VVD MP

An MP from the ruling VVD Liberal party says Dutch F16 fighter jets sent to Libya to oversee the no-fly zone and weapons embargo should also be used for bomb attacks.

VVD MP Han ten Broeke says in Tuesday’s Telegraaf that the UN resolution on Libya is wide enough to include bombing targets on the ground. However, this should only happen under Nato auspices, ten Broeke said.
Until now, the bomb attacks in Libya have been carried out by a loose coalition, including the US, Britain and France.
The government said prior to sending the six F16s and 200 military personnel that they would not be involved in bombing.
