Extra lean beef is 30% vegetable protein

Supermarket Group Albert Heijn has been ordered to change the labelling on its extra lean minced beef, because it does not contain just meat.


A complaint to the food standards authority was made by food journalist Geerit Jan Groothedde last year. He argued the package also contained 30% soya and grains and should be described as a beef product.
