Defence ministry plans to save €1bn delayed

Defence minister Hans Hillen is not expected to publish his plans to cut defence ministry spending by €1bn this week as planned.

A spokesman told news agency ANP this would not happen ‘given the difficulty and complexity of the measures’.
The measures are expected to involve the loss of 10,000 jobs. According to some reports, the tank divisions may also be scrapped.
