A 37-year-old man has been arrested after a sharp-eyed bus driver realised he had planned to meet a 12-year-old girl after pretending to be a teenager, news agency ANP reports.

The girl got on the bus travelling from Rotterdam to Bergen op Zoom. She asked the driver about a 15-year-old boy, saying she had met him online and they had agreed to go swimming.
A man then approached the girl, gave her a bus ticket and sat next to her. After they left the bus, the driver sounded the alarm.
Police found the girl and man at the swimming pool where he was arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual assault.
