The food and consumer safety body has handed out thousands of fines in a major fraud involving manure, Nos television reports on Friday.

One pig farmer has been fined a total €1m for illegally dumping manure on his land, Nos said.
The fraud involved a network of 40 manure traders who forged paperwork and invented fake customers to get round strict laws on manure dumping.
Nos does not give any further details about the case.
