Winds of up to 90 kph in north western parts of the country have led to delays to rail services in Noord-Holland and some flights from Schiphol airport.

Dutch Rail (NS) has decoupled Noord-Holland train services from the rest of the network, to keep delays elsewhere to a minimum. This means passengers have to change in Amsterdam and their journeys will take up to 30 minutes longer.
Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is also warning that many flights have been delayed because of the strong winds which have reduced take-off and landing capacity.
The delays are expected to last all morning at least, the airport authority said.
The KNMI weather bureau says the strong southwesterly winds will last much of the day.
