Schoolgirl arrested for school bomb tweets (update)

A 17-year-old schoolgirl from the town of Soest, near Hilversum, has been arrested for using the micro blogging service Twitter to say she was planning to blow up her school, according to Utrecht local television.

The girl, in the pre-university stream, sent out the message earlier this week, and followed it up with a second one saying she planned to kidnap a certain Rudy ‘after we have stabbed all the teachers to death’.
Later in the tweets, the girl states: ‘I’ll never be a good terrorist’.
Threatening behaviour
According to Utrecht police in the Volksksrant, the girl is suspected of threatening behaviour. ‘She sent several messages saying she was going to place a bomb,’ a spokesman said.
Although the tweets were obviously ironic, according to website GeenStijl, four police officers were involved in arresting the girl.
The girl’s mother told 3FM radio that the family had lost respect for the police by their action.
‘We had to ask them three times to identify themselves,’ she said. ‘We felt intimidated. We were not allowed to take her to the police station or to speak to her.’
The girl was released from custody on Thursday afternoon.
