MPs want answers on queen´s Christmas speech

MPs from across the political spectrum have called on prime minister Mark Rutte to comment on claims that he doctored the queen’s Christmas speech to take the concerns of the anti-Islam PVV into account.

Theologian Huub Oosterhuis, said to be a good friend and confidant of queen Beatrix, told television show Blauw Bloed that the speech had been heavily censured.
He later backtracked and said the censorship claim was his personal interpretation.
Influence
Nevertheless, MPs have demanded the prime minister come clean about how much influence he exerted over the queen.
In her speech, broadcast on Christmas Day, the queen called on all the people of the Netherlands to work together to solve society’s problems.
‘It is important to identify what binds us,’ she said. ‘We cannot deny our differences but must see them as a starting point for social dialogue… that is the basis for mutual respect.’
