Dutch tennis players out of tournament

It was a bad day for Dutch tennis players on Monday, the first day of the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, when four of the six taking part crashed out of the competition.

Thomas Schoorel was the first to go, losing 2-6, 6-7 to the Serb Viktor Troicki . He was followed by Jesse Huta Galang, who lost 4-6, 4-6 to the Austrian Jürgen Melzer.
The doubles pair Paul Haarhuis and Jacco Eltingh, who previously won all the grand slams and were making a comeback after 13 years, were unlucky in drawing top seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski in the first round. The Poles won 6-3, 6-2.
On Tuesday Thiemo de Bakker and Robin Haase will try and regain some Dutch pride in the singles competition.
