Bob de Jong stretches 10 km World Cup lead

Bob de Jong stretched his lead at the top of the World Cup standings by taking gold in the men’s 10,000 metres in Salt Lake City on Saturday.


It was De Jong’s third straight win and takes his lead to 174 points.
In the women’s event, Marit Leenstra closed the gap on leader Christine Nesbitt with gold in the women’s 1,500 metres. Ireen Wüst came second.
Wüst is currently lying third in the overall event, 36 points behind Leenstra, who is124 points behind Nesbitt.
The Speed Skating World Cup is a series of international speed skating competitions, organised yearly by the International Skating Union. Ten titles are awarded every season: five for men and five for women.
