Amsterdam’s modern art museum won’t reopen this year

Amsterdam’s modern art museum, the Stedelijk, will not reopen this year as planned, director Ann Goldstein has told the museum’s supporters.

The museum has been closed for renovations since 2004 and the project has been beset by problems. The latest is the bankruptcy of main contractor Midreth. The council is now in talks with VolkerVessels about taking over the project.
The city’s Rijksmuseum and maritime museum are also closed for renovations and will reopen later than planned.
