Wilders denies PVV ban on provincial election candidates

Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-Islam PVV, has denied local newspaper claims that candidates for the provincial elections have been banned from speaking in public.

The Gelderlander newspaper claimed only the campaign leaders in the 12 provinces are allowed to talk to the media and take part in debates.
Wilders said the claim is ‘rubbish’. Individual campaign leaders will take part in debates as the local face of the party, but there is no question of a blanket ban, the party leader said.
The PVV has no members and Wilders is known for keeping tight control over its representatives.
