Tiger and cubs escape from circus, kill camel

A female tiger and three cubs escaped from the Belly Wien circus in Alphen aan den Rijn on Monday and killed a camel before being recaptured, RTV West reports.

A horse and another camel were also injured in the half hour before the animals were driven back into their cage. The tigers did not leave the circus compound and there was no risk to the public, RTV West reported.
A ban on live animals in circuses imposed earlier by the town council was recently overturned in court, the television station said.
Circus Belly Wien calls itself the ‘most animal rich circus in the Netherlands’.
